All of the emails I keep receiving confirm one fact: a whole lotta troubled teens are pissed off and aren't going to take it anymore. All of the emails I keep receiving confirm one fact: a whole lotta troubled teens are pissed off and aren't going to take it anymore. Can you believe what's happening? Click below to find out more.

Quickies: It's that time again
QuickiesPosted by CmdrTaco on Sunday May 11, @04:15PM
from the rob-must-be-bored dept.
First up: Bledbar was the first to mention that the website for the United Organization Of Conservative Grandparents Supporting Random Drug Testing For Elected Officials runs on Linux. Snidre pointed out that TechWeb has started a bi-weekly BSD section. ucunter941 told us about the world's *least* ergonomic keyboard. As always, several new Linux websites have popped up, including apachekernel.net, colonelhack.net, and root-universe.org. Don't we have enough already? As expected, several new Linux websites have popped up, including nullkiddie.com, bsd-rulez.com, and gnubitbucketnetwork.net. This is starting to get out of hand. jeannette noted that ESR has updated the Jargon File to version 4.2.9. It includes new definitions for capwat, ketphylson, and daril. Quite a few people sent us a link to Bill Gates' computer teacher. Quite a few people sent us a link to The Simpsons Porn. Whitepro289 told us that TechWeb has started a weekly Apache section. And finally... paula noted that Wired News has an article on Slashdot.

We must stop the unelected bureaucrats of the world. We are at a crossroads. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. All of the emails I keep receiving confirm one fact: a whole lotta angst-ridden teens are pissed off and aren't going to take it anymore.

Preliminary reports indicate that as much as 22% of all US-based websites were offline for as many as three hours. The backhoe operator, "Bubba" Hart, says that he "pulled the wrong lever". Quickies: Welcome To Wednesday
QuickiesPosted by CmdrTaco on Sunday May 11, @11:16AM
from the here-comes-the-slashdot-effect dept.
Yep, it's that time again! renee.wellons told us about yet another place you don't want to see a BSOD. For something truly strange, Mark McManus pointed out this Slashdot plug in Ziff-Davis AnchorDesk. bisham told us about the world's largest Beowulf cluster. sheifra12 was the first to mention that the May issue of linux.len.net is out. Quite a few people sent us a link to a new site called gnulinusdotorg.com to help newbies. Leticia Waterman told us about an RFC document entitled "PORN Over Real-time Networks". It's old, but still amusing. Heidi Cowgill has launched a new Linux advocacy site called burritohumor.com.
